I have been an avid fan of RuPaul's Drag Race since season one. I have probably watched every season since then five plus times. I've even done a few drag queens makeup before and I gagged over them the entire time. I'm not a drag expert by any means. I just wanted to write a quick reaction to last nights episode titled Spoof! There It Is. Fun fact, RuPaul and I share the same birthday. At the same time we CLEARLY do not share the same thought process. Don't get me wrong I love mother Ru, but when she even said Trixie was in the bottom two I just about fell from my bed and burst into flames. I just could not fathom why someone who has been consistent in this competition and stepped up too each challenge was in the bottom. They even said Trixie wasn't bringing comedy, but I distinctly remember hearing Ru laugh every time Trixie did anything in the Glamazonian Airways challenge. I love Pearl as well, but it is a fact that people who have a shyer personality and don't really speak up tend to go rather quickly. I didn't want Pearl to leave either.
Currently there are a lot of theories and anger soaring through social media about last nights decision. Many people are thinking Trixie is somehow going to return based on the fact that she made the 'bean bag' comment toward Ginger that has yet to be aired. To that fact I do have some hope, but this wouldn't be the first time editing cut something out. Another theory is she will be back because she didn't show much on the Whatcha Packin' segment. I did see that she only had one dress to show and a pair of sunglasses. the dress she showed was the same one she hinted to while packing in the Untucked episode. She did reveal who she would've played on Snatch Game though. On the other hand many are happy Trixie sashayed away. I'm not one of them of course. A lot of people thought Kandy Ho should've replaced Trixie in the bottom. To that I have to say I agree. No disrespect to Kandy. I just feel she is not very memorable and she doesn't also step up fashion wise or challenge wise. I do applaud her for her growth on the show so far though. When she was told to fix her contour after week one she immediately did it showing that she has potential to listen and grow. In regards to the actual lip-sync, even though Trixie turned it her performance didn't really vibe with the song choice. The songs this season have really been dull for me. I know Ru loves 'Dim All The Lights' by Donna Summer I'm hoping that is a choice this season. I have seen her perform to many other songs including her brilliant Little House of Horrors performance and Gwen Stefani performance, which were both AMAZING.
For the sake of keeping this post short I will just say I think the elimination was mainly for shock value. We all know these reality shows do things for marketing purposes. They have to keep us interested as an audience. How many of us said we weren't going to watch after Ben De La Creme's exit last year? Yet here we all are. I did have De La flashbacks when Trixie left. I also think that maybe they are gearing it so a specific few will be left so a comedy queen or an underdog queen doesn't win this season. Looking at the last few winners it has always been the person the fans really love. Bianca was a comedy queen who brought her hilarious hate to the forefront as well as a mother-figure. Jinx was picked on her entire season and everyone loved her quirkiness and determination. Sharon was different and new versus all the typical beauty queens we had seen seasons before. This season I truly feel like Trixie, Katya, and Max are those individuals. Now one is gone, one has been in the bottom before and one got rocky feedback last episode despite still doing fine on the runway. I think Ru is trying to challenge these queens this season to make the ones we would normally cheer for have to fight for it. I am confident that Trixie will pop out of a Barbie Pink box in a few episodes. Hopefully before Snatch Game. On the other hand Ru has surprised me before by not bringing queens back or bringing back queens we really didn't miss. Sorry not sorry about it. Until then I will just keep waving my Trixie flag and hoping. What are your thoughts on Trixie's departure and last episode in general. Comment. #justicefortrixie
