So I wanted to give you all an update on my new healthy eating lifestyle. When I last talked about this I explained how being a carb addict was destroying my waistline. My weight has always been a sensitive issue for me. As I started to gain more and more weight I realized that the problem was that I didn't know how to eat. When I was an athlete I could eat everything under the sun and not gain a pound. As soon as I stopped playing basketball and went back to being a regular college student my weight jumped up and down constantly. I didn't know how to eat in order to keep the small size I had grown accustomed to. A month ago I started to change my eating habits from almost all carbs to hardly any. I cut flour out of my diet and paid attention to where I was getting my calories from. My biggest suggestions to women struggling with weight are watch what you buy and section off your meals.
Watching what you buy is essential. For those of you who love to snack I suggest things like carrots, cherry tomatoes, apples, or cutie oranges. You still get the satisfaction of snacking but with none of the guilt from eating an entire bag of cheetos or a pack of cookies. Even though I personally do not like nuts they serve as excellent snacking food during a busy day. If you are a frequent snacker, like myself, buying snacks like these in bulk will be your life-saver. I personally don't always like to eat a full meal and love to snack on carrots and cherry tomatoes when I'm doing homework. If you have to buy bread I suggest Wheat multi-grain. I know seeing bread with a whole bunch of seeds and stuff in it can be daunting, but the results are heaven. I went to the store and purchased one loaf of Multi-Grain 9 Grain bread and went through it in about a week and a half. After that week I noticed I was more regular and had even lost a lot of weight around my stomach area. My friends think the bread looks gross but looks and taste are very different matters.
Another hard thing about meals is portion control. Even though most of us want to eat well sometimes portions can be a downfall. I suggest going to your nearest Walmart and purchasing a sectioned off lunchbox. The one I have came with two smaller compartments for fruits and veggies, an ice tray to keep meals cold, and a large section for sandwiches or salads. Every day I wake up early and pack my lunch into this lunchbox. My lunches usually include a tuna and spinach sandwich on multi-grain bread, carrots and cherry tomatoes, apple slices, and occasionally a cucumber salad. Eating like this keeps me alert especially on my busy class days when I need to be sharp for class. Trust me you will not be left hungry if you eat healthy like this. A lot of people think if you eat heavier meals that will help with hunger. Eating healthy light meals still fills you up and helps you loose weight because your body will do more to digest it.
Now I will say that eating healthy can be costly and is not the most thrilling thing in the world. That's why I say bulk up on the things you know you are going to eat. It will be hard if you do not cover the basics. Buy according to the meals you want to eat. For breakfast I make sure I have an abundance of oatmeal, blueberries, brown sugar, eggs, and spinach. For lunch I keep tons of tuna and celery in stock as well as apples to slice. Dinner is a bit harder because I never really know what to eat. For this I'll usually make a salad using spinach or cucumbers. I'll also keep chicken breasts and zucchini and squash handy. Just eating this way for the last two weeks I have seen a dramatic change. A lot of my stubborn belly fat has gone away. This of course is without even working out as much. I will be doing a review soon on the Skinnymint 14 day detox morning and night teas. Be on the look out fir that as well as more updates. Also feel free to ask me about certain meal plan goals and comment with your favorite healthy snack. Mine is obvious cherry tomatoes. Above is a picture of one lunch one day.
