Beauty trends can get a bit out of hand at times. Even today I saw a girl at IHOP with drawn on brows that looked like someone melted the Nike swish on her face. It was bad. Now we have Kylie Jenner to thank for what I certainly think is the most idiotic trend I've ever seen in my entire life. Over-drawing lips is one thing, but to actually suck on a shot glass to the point that your lips swell up and you look like Bozo the clown...What are you girls thinking? This does not look good. You look like you have been stung by a thousand bees specifically in the lips. I find it so funny that I, as a black girl, got teased for having naturally big lips by the same types of girls who are doing this crazy fad now.
I do think over-drawing ones lips looks horrible. It looks like a girl was high off of anti-depressants while trying to put on lipstick. The shot glass trick though can prove dangerous. One, I think many girls are just doing this to go along with the beauty trends of the times and wanting to look like a 'celebrity'. On the other hand though what is so wrong with the lips you have? I remember I used to hate my lips because they are big and I got teased relentlessly because of them. Then one day I started wearing lipstick and people became obsessed with my lips and told me how lucky I was. So I guess I can't speak from the experience of having little lips, but I'm sorry that trick can't be good for you. There is even a video of a girl, who already had plumper lips, doing the challenge and then her lips swelled up to such an unnatural size that she couldn't even close her mouth.
I don't really want to be judgmental, but you all look like alien ducks. As a freelance MUA I am no an advocate for this challenge. If you want to be like Kylie Jenner so bad just pay for your lips like she did...Allegedly. I will be happy when this trend blows over. Just like all the rest have. Beauty trends are sadly something that just pop up out of no where, and are usually started by celebrities that do not understand the power they hold over young girls. Kylie should, in my opinion, make a twitter post or something telling girls to stop doing that to themselves. It is not attractive. What do you all think? Comment and follow.
Much Love,
M.
Below is a picture of a girl who did this challenge...I think she regrets that.
